When Onboarded Digitally, UK Employees Say Employers Meet Expectations

Benify's Benefit and engagement report

Employees who are onboarded digitally are more likely to say their employer lives up to their expectations than those who are onboarded without digital tools.

This finding is revealed in The Benefits & Engagement Report: A European employer’s guide to employee experience of the 2020s – a study exploring what benefits are most important for different employee groups, how benefits are related to employee engagement, and what effect HR tech platforms have on benefits appreciation and the overall employee experience. The study was commissioned by award-winning benefits technology provider, Benify, and conducted by global public opinion and data company, YouGov.

81% of UK employees who were onboarded digitally using a benefits platform say that their employer lives up to the expectations set in the job advertisement or recruitment process. However, only 56% employees who were onboarded without the use of digital tools say the same.

Despite these findings, Kate Goodwin, Head of Client Relations International at Benify, says that few employers in the UK make use of the digital onboarding tools available to them:

“Digital onboarding is not used enough in the UK in my opinion. For many employees, onboarding means receiving papers through the post – ‘here’s the things you need to read and complete.’ There has been a shift towards digital onboarding, but it is not as rich in the UK as it could be. There’s a lot more that employers can do, and a benefits platform is a great way to onboard employees digitally, especially now during the current situation.”

About the study
The survey was conducted in April 2020 by YouGov, on behalf of Benify, in the form of an anonymous online survey with approximately 5,000 participants aged 18 and older in the United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden. To learn more about the study, please request a copy of The Benefits and Engagement Report via the contact information below.
